If you are looking for some very unique residences with Gulf of Mexico frontage, one of the most unique and most historic developments on Siesta Key is a very small enclave of 13 homes located on Bayou Louise Lane.
Located on the north east corner of Siesta Key just south of Gulfmead Estates and west of the Sieste REV replat you will find the Bayou Louise development. This is one of the oldest developments on Siesta Key. The canal in Bayou Louise was dredged between 1911 and 1913. In 1912 Gulf Bay Land Company re-platted “Siesta Key on the Gulf” and opened Hanson Bayou to Big Pass and began the construction of roads and sidewalks in the area.
There are some very impressive gulf side residences with boat docks located in Bayou Louise. The water just offshore is part of the Big Pass trench and is very deep making it suitable for a large sailboat, fishing boat or cruising yacht. A couple of the residences also have some private beach real estate on the property. These Gulf side amenities make the home sites in Bayou Louise very rare. It is not easy to find a gulf side residence that features Gulf side dockage as well as access to a private beach.
There are a total of 10 homes on the Gulf front and 3 that are on the canal. Prices for the gulf side homes can easily tip the scales at $5 million, the canal properties can be had for significantly less.
